Direction

The core responsibility of a Creative director isn’t (necessarily) to come up with all the ideas and tell everyone what to do.

Creative Direction is about facilitating the collective Creative Process and clarifying the Direction of a creative project. Thus the name.

Creative Direction can also involve getting other teams to coordinate their efforts cohesively and constructively so that the results WORK.

Some projects have separate team leads and the director’s role in these instances is to open up the team lead and gently trick them into doing their best possible creative work.

I call it a trick because it seems like magic. Great Creative Direction can be almost invisible, right up until the final product is unveiled.

Creativity can seem just as rare and weird as it can beautiful and brilliant.

If you need a smaller, specific job done or need advice, critique, evaluation, or a spark of originality, try my Creative Consulting service. If you are an Artist and want to work on a project together, check out what I have to say about Creative Collaboration.
